Ayrshire is located in the south west of Scotland. It is `Rabbie Burns' country and famous for its high quality golf courses. It is becoming increasingly popular as a holiday destination owing to its rugged and unspoilt coastline and diverse countryside.
The Ayrshire Coastal Path runs for 100 miles from Glenapp to Skelmorlie along one of the most dramatic stretches of coastline in the whole country. Aside from the ever-changing seascape views, walkers can gaze out upon Arran - Scotland's largest island. This much-loved and popular trail is now a key link in the International Appalachian Trail which seeks to promote high-quality walking trails throughout Europe. The path can be stunning at all times of year but is particularly breathtaking during high summer when late night walkers can enjoy the backdrop of a beautiful west coast sunset.
